TEAM 1200 Hosts

Steve Warne John Rodenburg
mornings@team1200.com
JR was re-patrioted from BOB FM in September and continues his string of intermittently hosting “Three guys on the Radio”. For those of you keeping score at home, this is his 3rd crack at it so he’s obviously got pictures of someone.

When not being let down by his favourite teams, the Flames, Eagles, and Suns, you’ll find JR taxiing his 3 girls around to various sports; from hockey to soccer to basketball and skiing.

At all other times, he’ll be sleeping and dreaming of one day hosting the only show he never has on the TEAM – overnights (except when the Sens crap out too early in the playoffs).

Steve Warne Steve Warne
mornings@team1200.com
Steve is the longest serving member of the Three Guys On The Radio show – weekdays 6-10am.

TGOR took him far from his remote homeland of Richmond, Ontario, forcing him to resettle and start a new life in fast paced Barrhaven.  Warnsy, the "Mayor" of Barrhaven, handles all of TGOR's hockey and parody songs.  His hobbies include beer league hockey, golf, Sens loving, Leaf hating, Expo regretting and lung butter dodging.  He also strives to make his HD man cave just a little more awesome than it was yesterday.

Follow Steve's blog, twitter feed or join him on facebook.

Jungle Jim Jerome Jungle Jim Jerome
mornings@team1200.com
Co-host 3 Guys on the Radio
The only thing you need to know about Jungle is that he's the sweetest, most kind and sensitive man you'll ever hear on the radio.

Kenny Walls Kenny Walls
kenny@team1200.com
TGOR Producer
Born in Calgary, Kenny is a die hard Flames fan with the Sens a close second. After making stops in Kitchener, Brantford and Toronto he ended up in at Algonquin College taking radio broadcasting. Shortly after graduating Kenny started at brother station CFRA before making the move across the hall in August 2005 to become the whipping boy for TGOR. Along with cheering for the Flames and Sens, Kenny adds the Atlanta Falcons, Blue Jays and the Raptors to his list of favourite teams.

Lee Versage Lee Versage
lee@team1200.com
Co-host of Sportscall
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 10 years since Lee Versage started on sports radio. He grew up in Markham just outside Toronto….not his fault, and went to Wilfrid Laurier and Humber Colleges before starting in Ottawa.

Over his career, he has had the privilege of covering a Stanley Cup Final, 2 NHL Drafts and 2 Memorial Cups. As well as the countless ups and downs of his beloved Ottawa 67’s.

Lee fell in love with sports radio as young kid while betting on football at three years old. Three years old…… let’s hope the RCMP aren’t reading this. If they are, hello officer, remember, I just wrote it, I don’t encourage toddler gambling.

"The passion of sports fans is the lifeblood of the business and what an honour it is to facilitate and try and bring different viewpoints and ideas to that passion."

Phil Melanson
phil.melanson@chumottawa.com
Co-host of Sportscall
Phil has lived in Ottawa for all but one party-filled, half-remembered year in Montreal. Despite the Ottawa connection, the team closest to his heart is the Toronto Maple Leafs. But looking further into his other favourite teams (Buffalo Bills, Seattle Mariners and a weird obsession with the Air Force Academy football team), his love for the Leafs is less about spite and more because of a syndrome of rooting for losing teams.

Phil is probably best known for living out the trip of a lifetime in April-June 2009 as he visited all 30 MLB stadiums in 60 days.  His liver was thankful for the lack of kick in American beer.

After hosting various Team 1200 shows on evenings and weekends, Phil got the call-up to host weekday mornings on Sportscall with Lee Versage in December 2009. Since the debut of the partnership, his knowledge of subjects such as pro wrestling, reality shows for females and co-ed softball has greatly improved.

Dean Roberts Dean Roberts
dean@team1200.com
Dean handles 20/20 updates with TGOR and also handles sportscasts on CFRA's Madley in the Morning and with Kevin and Bill on the Majic 100 Morning Show. Dean is an avid sports fan, especially of the Ottawa 67's. He's also an avid golfer and hockey player. He has two children whom are also heavily involved in athletics.
You can also catch him anchoring Fairways and Flagsticks with Co-Hosts Tony Dunn and Kevin Pigeon on sister station CFRA on Sunday Mornings!

Steve Lloyd Steve Lloyd
steve@team1200.com
Co-host Healthy Scratches, Senators Pre-Game and Intermission Host
Steve was born and raised a valley boy in Carleton Place and now lives in Nepean with his unlucky wife who has to put up with “I have to watch this for work”. After five years of planning (or partying, it’s semantics really) at Lakehead University and Algonquin College, Steve became an Ottawa Sports Radio original in 1998.
THE END! No really that’s it! Nothing to see here… Talk amongst yourselves!

Dean Brown Dean Brown
Senators Play-by-Play
Dean was born in Manitoba, but moved to Ontario in the early 80's.  Since then he has won virtually no professional awards or commendations.  Dean has done a remarkably adequate job calling the Senators games since the clubs inception and has had a largely forgettable career.  If it were not for the sympathetic management at the Team 1200 Dean likely would be a greeter at a Big Box store.

Dean Brown … he’s not much of a broadcaster, but he's all ours!

Gord Wilson Gord Wilson
Senators Colour Commentator
Gord has been one half of the play-by-play team since day one with the Ottawa Senators. One listen to Gordie's work and you'll discover his true passion for hockey. He's enjoyed the unique experience of seeing first hand the Senators grow and evolve since their inception in 92-93. Partnered with Dean Brown, you'll be hard pressed to find a better team calling NHL hockey.

James Absen James Abson
james@team1200.com
"Abby" updates you on traffic while producing The Healthy Scratches weekdays from 3p-6p.  He also produces Ottawa Senators Hockey and Renegade Bass Fishing.

James has been happily married to his beautiful Boo Barbara since August 2006, he's thankful that she's understanding and doesn't mind being a "Hockey Widow" during Sens season. His favourite sports are hockey, poker & golf. "Abby" also watches a lot of movies, top of the list is Slap Shot & all Kevin Smith flicks. He's an Ottawa native who has also worked at stations in Trenton and Huntsville prior to joining The Team 1200 in 1998.

Dave Schreiber Dave Schreiber
dave@team1200.com
Schreib’s was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. He is the father of three grown sons and also a grandfather. He enjoys golf and downhill skiing when he’s not on the air. He is also a big fan of blues, jazz and 50’s and 60’s rock.

“The Voice” is now in his 34th year on Ottawa radio. He has seen it all. He is currently a member of the Ottawa 67s and Ottawa Senators radio broadcast crews. He was the play-by-play radio voice of the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1992 until the club folded in 1996 and prior to that he worked the pre-game and half-time shows on Rough Rider radio broadcasts and also served as the third man in the booth from 1975 to 1983 with the late Ernie Calcutt and the late Don Holtby.

Dave was also the play-by-play radio voice of the Ottawa Renegades from their inception in 2002 until their final season in 2005. He was the play-by-play voice of National Grey Cup radio broadcasts in 2001 and 2002, and he also knows a thing or two about horse racing... “The Voice” is the former track announcer at Rideau Carleton Raceway where he spent 16 years calling the races!

Scott MacArthur Scott MacArthur
scott.macarthur@chumradio.com
Scott was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, moving to Ottawa for post-secondary "education" in 1998.  After graduating from Algonquin College's radio broadcasting program in 2002, he moved into the CFRA newsroom and eventually ascended to afternoon drive anchor in June 2003.  A sports nut, Scott began to cut his teeth on the TEAM 1200 with the odd 20-20 update shift.  After brief stints as a co-host of "In the Zone" and "The Press Box," he took over the reins of the Ottawa Senators post-game show, along with Mike Eastwood, in October 2006.  Scott's also done some work on local TV, hosting "OHL Primetime" Ottawa 67's broadcasts on Rogers TV for three seasons, spending four seasons as colour commentator on Ottawa Lynx broadcasts and most recently as the play-by-play voice for Ottawa Fat Cats baseball.

Scott stakes claim to being Canada's biggest Chicago Cubs fan and so he's very familiar with heartbreak (Steve Bartman, anyone?!)  His greatest sports memories include being at Skydome for both Blue Jays' World Series victories, watching the 1992 win in Atlanta on the Jumbotron with 50,000 other fans and being part of the live celebration after Joe Carter's homerun in 1993; attending Game 7 of the Campbell Conference semifinal in 1993 at Maple Leaf Gardens (Toronto beat St. Louis 6-0); watching his all-time favourite athlete, Steve Young, lead the San Francisco 49ers to victory in Superbowl XXIX; and, he's NOT making this up, catching a foul ball at Wrigley Field, off the bat of Mark Grace, at his first Cubs game in August 1993.

Jon Abbot Jon Abbott
jon.abbott@chumradio.com
Jon is an Aylmer, Ontario native who has also lived in London and Toronto prior to calling Ottawa home.  He is excited to be part of the Team 1200 in the nation’s capital and has worked hard to get here.

Jon has always had a passion for sports and the gift of gab. He applied himself to making his dream come true -becoming a sports broadcaster - even at an early age. As a teenager he began covering the Ontario Hockey League. He is now entering season 9 of broadcast coverage of the OHL and his 3rd full season with the Ottawa 67’s as play by play and colour commentator.  He is thrilled to be part of the barber pole tradition, but also looks back fondly on the London Knights, Western Mustangs and Toronto St. Michael’s Majors organizations that helped him get to where he is today.

Though he is thrilled to be working in radio, he has also spent time in television.  Jon grew up volunteering, and later working for Rogers TV and also spent a year under MLSE at Leafs TV.  While helping to cover the Leafs was fun, he is very excited to continue “live from the locker-room” interviews as part of Team 1200’s Ottawa Senators coverage.

When you don’t find him around the 67’s, the Sen’s or on the 20-20 update desk, you’ll likely find him at a rink trying to play goal while watching the red light go on.

Matt Kaunisviita Matt Kaunisviita
matt.kaunisviita@chumradio.com
Matt has so many letters in his last name that people often call him "Matty K" or "Vowels" to save themselves the trouble of trying to pronounce it.

Having lived his whole life in Ottawa, he is a huge Sens fan (PRAISE ALFIE!!!), and also loves to hit the links (although he sucks, much to the chagrin of Kevin Haime).  Matt is the back-up goaltender of producers, and has filled in behind the board on virtually every show the TEAM has to offer. You can find him on the 20/20 sports update desk on the weekend, and he's also a big part of the TEAM's freshershest new show, the NHL Tonight with Liam Maguire.

Outside of his duties at the TEAM, Matt also engineers all of the visiting radio broadcasts for Ottawa Senators home games.

Al Armstrong Al Armstrong
al.armstrong@chumradio.com
When not ruling Winchester with an iron fist, Angry has hosted Sunday Best with an assortment of Co-Hosts, as well as frequently filling in (and that's a LOT of fill) on TGOR for whichever slacker has bolted that day.

Al has over-achieved with both his wife and two kids, all three of whom he thankfully (for them) mostly avoids. Really, he's just angry due to the constant hunger pains.

Tim KilpatrickTim "Buzz" Kilpatrick
1967-2008
Although his voice was sadly taken from us last July, Tim's spirit and memory will live forever on TEAM 1200.

Buzz joined our team in 2002 and immediately found a home anchoring with unsurpassed passion our afternoon drive show. When the opportunity presented itself to shift Buzz into one of the three big chairs on the morning show, his true personality and talents emerged forever endearing him to thousands of loyal and dedicated fans.

Yankees, Leafs, sports, arm candy, movies, junior hockey and the world he lived in; Buzz loved to talk about it all each morning. Buzz was an amazing talent, friend and son. We will always miss him, but never forget him.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start
